Itinerary
Your journey begins with one of the world’s most spectacular flights into Paro. After a warm
Bhutanese welcome, we dive straight into the culture:
● Explore: Visit the Rinpung Dzong ("Fortress of Heaped Jewels") and the National
Museum.
● The Experience: Evening dinner at a traditional farmhouse. Savor home-cooked
organic dishes and soak in a Hot Stone Bath—the perfect ritual to prepare your body
for the trek ahead.
● Overnight in Paro (Hotel)
Before hitting the high trail, we visit Bhutan’s crown jewel: Taktsang Monastery.
● The Hike: A 4-5 hour round trip to the monastery clinging to a cliff 900m above the valley.
● The Reward: Breathtaking views and a spiritual blessing at one of Buddhism's holiest sites.
● Overnight in Paro (Hotel)
Distance: 7km | Time: 4-5 hrs | Camp Altitude: 3,480m. The adventure officially begins. We climb through lush apple orchards and ancient pine forests.
● Highlight: Reaching the ridge of Jili Dzong. On a clear day, look back for a panoramic view of the Paro valley and the snow-capped peak of Mt. Jomolhari.
● Overnight at Jili Dzong Camp
Distance: 10km | Time: 4-5 hrs | Camp Altitude: 3,770m.
Today we follow the spine of the mountains. The trail winds through thick alpine forests where the calls of monal pheasants echo through the trees.
● The Experience: In spring, the trail is a riot of color with blooming rhododendrons. We
camp in a tranquil meadow used by nomadic yak herders.
● Overnight at Jangchulakha Camp
Distance: 11km | Time: 5-6 hrs | Camp Altitude: 3,870m
Expect sweeping views of the Himalayas as we traverse high ridges.
● Highlight: Arrival at Jimilang Tsho (Sand Ox Lake). These crystal-clear waters are
famous for their giant trout. Relax by the lakeshore as our trekking chef prepares a hot,
multi-course dinner.
● Overnight at Jimilang Tsho Camp
Distance: 11km | Time: 5-6 hrs | Camp Altitude: 4,110m
The trail takes us past the smaller Janetso Lake. You’ll get a rare glimpse into the "Highland Life" as we pass yak herders' camps.
● The View: This is your highest camp. As the sun sets, the jagged peaks of the
Bhutanese Himalayas turn golden right before your eyes.
● Overnight at Simkotra Tsho Camp
Distance: 10km | Time: 4 hrs | Camp Altitude: 3,750m
A morning climb brings us to the Phume La Pass (4,210m), decorated with hundreds of fluttering prayer flags.
● The Spectacle: From here, you can see Mt. Gangkar Puensum, the highest
unclimbed mountain in the world. We then descend toward the Phajoding Monastery,
a sanctuary of peace overlooking Thimphu.
● Overnight at Phajoding Camp
Distance: 5km | Time: 3 hrs Watch the sunrise over the Thimphu valley before a leisurely downhill walk through bluepines.
● The Transition: Your driver will meet you at the trailhead and whisk you away to your
hotel for a well-deserved hot shower.
● Explore: Afternoon visit to the Royal Takin Preserve to see Bhutan’s unique national
animal.
